How to get romantic at the Drive In's the $30 Date Night way

There’s nothing like recalling the romance of the drive-in movie days… it conjures images of carefree teenagers making out in the backseat of the car, and if you do it right then you could spend a frisky night for two doing the same!

STEP 1 - START YOUR ENGINES - If you can get your hands on a station wagon or a pick up truck with a mattress in the back, that would be awesome! A classic car would be even better!

If not, make sure the car you take is clean, comfortable and has a spotless windscreen. Pack pillows and blankets for extra coziness!

STEP 2 - PACK A PICNIC - Instead of eating a nasty hotdog from the convenience stand, pack a picnic basket full of yummy movie-watching snacks for two. Because it will be dark, think ‘dessert’ and munchies. Pre-popped popcorn, hand-cut potato chips, fancy chocolates and cupcakes will all impress. Suss out your date’s favorites and make sure you include them; a piccolo of champagne won’t hurt either!

STEP 3 - PICK THE RIGHT MOVIE - The most romantic thing you can do for a person is to let them know you were thinking of them. With that in mind, hand-select the perfect movie for you and your date to watch together. Some drive-ins will show the classics instead of new releases, which is always fun for a real blast from the past, otherwise go with something you know they’ve been dying to see or that features a favorite actor or actress.

STEP 4 - DON’T FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! - The backseat pash is the most fun (and most iconic) part of this entire date idea! Assuming you and your date are already a serious item, put some moves on when you get a chance! If you’re using this as a first date, exercise some discretion when it comes to the making out!

I have gone to the drive in a few times with my boyfriend. we each took turns driving up and then we sat in the back seat together sharing a pillow and blanket. so cute. once we missed the second movie because we ended up making out through the whole thing.
