No.3 - Watch a Sunrise

When was the last time you saw a sunrise? The complete impracticality of it is what makes it so devastatingly romantic. The whole world is waking up, the birds are singing, hot air balloons are floating past… it’s worth the effort! Every now and then.

$30 Date Night Tips on setting up a romantic Sunrise Date Idea

When was the last time you saw a sunrise? The complete impracticality of it is what makes it so devastatingly romantic. The whole world is waking up, the birds are singing, hot air balloons are floating past… it’s worth the effort! Every now and then.

STEP 1 - YOU’LL WANT A LOOKOUT - Sun rises in the east… find a place that faces that way, either an elevated lookout on a hill or looking out to the ocean if you’re lucky enough to live near one. Alternatively, your very own backyard will suffice if you’re loathe to go too far that early.

STEP 2 - DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE - Check your meteorology bureau to find out exactly what time sunrise will be. Then get up early enough so’s that you don’t miss it. While you’re at it, word your sweetie up to make sure you don’t get them on a day when they have an important meeting, or after a big night.. being woken up at 4am should never be a surprise!

STEP 3 - BE PREPARED - Rug up if you’ll need to, take a plastic-backed rug for under your butts (the morning dew may look pretty, but you don’t want to be sitting on it!) and prepare a thermos of coffee, tea or hot chocolate to keep you warm (and awake!) as you watch the skies.

STEP 4 - MAKE THE MOST OF IT - Add to your date by going for breakfast afterwards at a lovely little café, or stop past a bakery just as it’s opening and munch on croissants fresh from the oven!

Can you remember the last time you and your sweetie enjoyed a sunrise together? I can... it was a few years ago, we were staying in the Yarra Valley and we got up with our blankets and sat on the back porch to watch the sunrise... there were beautiful hot air balloons almost in arm's reach and it was a gorgeous, gorgeous experience... we went to breakfast together afterward... a beautiful memory we'll have forever. Make your own!

I'm not a morning person, but this sounds like fun! Especially if you can find a beach lookout and watch the sun come up over the ocean.
