If you’ve made it this far in an ABC Dating Challenge, then congratulations to you! It’s not always easy to complete these things. The important part is, when you fall off the date night horse you just need to pick yourself up and book your next date in, even if weeks have elapsed in between.
Our R date was really special. We took a rowboat out on Central Park Lake when we were in New York. So iconic and memorable!
Of course, you can find rowboats all over the world. Pack a picnic and bring some bread for the ducks and you have yourself one very romantic ‘R’ date night.
Some other R date ideas:
Rollerskating
Find an old-fashioned skating rink where you get the four-wheeled skates and spend an afternoon rolling around together. Many of these venues will have themed nights, like couples nights, where they play cheesy love songs as you twirl and hold hands. So bad it will be hilariously fun!
Roller Derby
If you’re more of a spectator, find your local Roller Derby club and go check out the next throwdown! Pick opposing teams to barrack for and bet on the outcome – loser stacks the dishwasher for the next week!
Rainy Day
When was the last time you went dancing in the rain? Don’t let a few drops of water keep you housebound – stop being a big wuss and throw caution to the wind! Pull on some wellies and a raincoat and get out amongst it! A walk in a forest or a stroll along the beach will be very refreshing… even better, once you get home you’ll need to jump into a steamy shower or bath together to warm back up.
Ready, Steady, Cook!
Grab a green bag each and head to the supermarket. Fill the bag with secret ingredients (don’t let your partner see!). When you get home, swap your bags over and get into an afternoon session of Ready, Steady, Cook! See what dishes you can come up with using each other’s ingredients bag, then sit down together to enjoy your meals.
Rooftop Dining
There’s something about being on a gorgeous rooftop with a beautiful view… If your city is anything like ours, rooftop dining and bars will have sprung up all over the place since they changed the smoking laws. This is particularly advantageous to couples with romantic tendencies. Take your sweetie out for a cocktail or a dinner on a rooftop somewhere… perhaps even on your own rooftop if you have one in your building!
Any other bright ‘R’ date ideas floating around out there?
Writer, dating columnist, wife, coffee addict, foodie, fashionista... Melburnian through and through. Muser, dancer, blogger, tweeter. Likes to get her head on telly now and again. Sleeper, dreamer, a sucker for romance. And of course... a cheap date.
Great ideas, rollerskating is my favorite!
