Date Ideas

Oasis Bakery Melbourne

Oasis Bakery Macaroons

My favourite date ideas are the ones that take me to new places for new experiences. Sure, I love a romantic setting just as much as the next person but I’d gladly pass it up to experience something I’ve never had before.

The Oasis Bakery was recommended to Emma and me via friends… and its far cry from being romantic. It’s large and busy, full of families and children racing around, that alone is enough to turn anyone away from taking their date here. But we knew what we were in for and had a goal in mind – experience new taste sensations.

The café serves up some sensational Middle Eastern meals, and at the $15 per plate price range you’ll fill your bellies within the $30 date budget – but don’t come here armed with so little, the delights will beckon your wallet to open and have you taking home goodies for that midnight sweet snack attack.

Emma ordered a falafel dish and I went for a lamb kibbeh. Middle Eastern cuisine isn’t something I eat often. The salad served up took me back to early childhood days of how mum used to serve up her salad coated in vinegar and oil – delish.

Sweet Delights

With my parents moving into a more healthy style of cooking it’s been some time since I’ve had a salad with oil.

Attached to the café is a mini-mart. Everything you can buy in the café is on offer as a take home and cook package. We managed to go more than $50 of take home goodies on delights that we hardly ever eat. Lovely baklava, Turkish delight, more falafel, pizza bases, lentils, spices and a hot sauce that will blow your lid (oh my god – it’s amazing!). The baklava didn’t stand a chance making past the car park – it was demolished before the engine was started!

If you’re in Melbourne, I recommend you take a trip out to Oasis Bakery even if it’s to grab some delish goodies to take home with you for a home cook up or to get you through a night of movies and snuggling.

Appreciating the time and energy you put into your blog and detailed information you present. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed information. Excellent read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
