Q is for Quesadillas
I have to admit, Q had me stumped for awhile!
I turned to Twitter for inspiration and my fantastic Tweeps had a plethora of ideas for me… A day trip to Queenscliff, a game of quoits and a quickie among them… we settled on a late afternoon date that involved Quesadillas from Trunk Diner.
Damn, I love Mexican food.
Quesadillas, if you don’t already know (Don’t laugh, Americans. We’re not that well-versed in Mexican here in Australia), are like a Mexican toastie – yummy fillings toasted between two tortillas. Traditionally, they involve fillings like manchego cheese and jalapenos. They’re meant to be quick snacks which is why this became an afternoon snack date.
Trunk Diner is a gorgeous, leafy outdoor courtyard area smack bang in the middle of the Melbourne CBD. It’s a great space and the addition of their daytime diner has been an inspired one. Great coffee and a fantastic menu full of favourites. If this wasn’t a ‘Q’ post, I’d be telling you all about the wagyu burger.
But seeing as it is indeed a Q post, let me tell you about the Quesadilla filled with Portabello mushrooms, roast corn, fetta & fontina cheese for only $9. Or, my personal pick the shredded poached chicken, roast red peppers & tomato, coriander and lime, $10.
An hour or so in the sunshine with my sweetie and great food, at less than $30? Yes, please! A beautifully relaxed date for two.
